NGISA Inc Membership Services
Nursery Industry Development Officer (NIDO)
The Nursery Industry Development Officers role is funded partly by NGISA and also by Horticulture Australia Ltd (HAL) via funds raised through the NGIA levy fund. The NIDO is part of a national network of development officers and members have access to technical advice from this qualified and experienced horticultural professional network.
The NIDO arranges regular technical workshops on a variety of subjects plus field trips. They also provide advice on pest and disease management, waste water management and other technical issues.
Business Development Officer (BDO)
The Business Development Officer is funded by NGISA and Horticulture Australia Ltd. The BDO is part of a national network of development officers. Members are assured of access to professional advice and guidance which includes: Promoting the Australian Garden Centre Accreditation Scheme and merchandising techniques.
Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA)
The Nursery and Garden Industry Australia represents the interest of the industry at a national level including:
· Negotiating issues with the Federal Government including Environmental
Industrial Relations and Water and Weed Management.
· Providing regular news and information through the Nursery Papers, the NGIA Clippings and E-Commpost.

Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia (NIASA)
NIASA provides support for continual business improvement and professional development. It helps businesses deal with production efficiencies, government regulations and advancing technology as well as acknowledging excellence among nursery production businesses. NIASA accredited businesses are able to be recognised by this logo

Australian Garden Centre Accreditation Scheme (AGCAS)
AGCAS is a national scheme designed to encourage and recognise excellence in garden centre retailing. South Australia has a number of retail garden centres accredited under this national best practices scheme. Those who are Accredited under AGCAS are able to promote the logo shown below

Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL)
HAL is the research and development organisation set up to administer the NGIA "Industry Levy” funds collected from the Nursery production sector of the industry. The levy of 5% is used to invest in research and development (3%), extension and marketing (2%) These funds are matched 50c for every dollar by the Federal Government. The levy also funds the Industry Development Officers, Industry Conferences, marketing and promotions.

NGISA Nursery Notes
The Nursery Notes are produced on a weekly basis and keep members informed over a wide range of issues via fax or electronic media. The weekly nature ensures that members are kept up to date with relevant topic issues and activities.
Landscape & Gardening SA Magazine
The Nursery & Garden Industry SA and Landscape Association SA jointly produce a quarterly full colour magazine designed for garden centres to give freely to their customer base. This magazine is highly sought after as a way of communicating with the South Australian retail public
Plant Health Diagnostic Service
The South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) have offered members approximately 40% discount for disease diagnosis and pest identification. SARDI’s laboratories are staffed by expert specialist pathologists and entomologists.

Education and Training
Regular workshops are facilitated by the NGISA. These workshops are designed specifically for the Nursery and Garden Industry and include professional development and business profitability. Priority and special rates are offered to members. They are supported by Maxima Group Training and TAFESA
NextGen
This is a group for the under 35’s in or interested in the Nursery & Garden Industry. A group which offers access to up to date industry information, training, workshops and networking between like minded people.
Industrial Relations
